Hi!

Started working on an environment by Mark Yang (http://www.igorstshirts.com/blog/conceptships/2012/marksist/marksist_04.jpg) a few days ago, and I thought I'd show you my progress so far.

Got most of the tiles modeled and I've started texturing to try different things out.
I'll go back to finish this piece up once the other pieces have been baked.

Here's what I have so far:

It's a lot more worn down than in the concept, and I'll most likely make it look more like the concept later on depending on how it looks once I get it in-engine.

Right now it's only a diffuse with a very, VERY basic specular.

The door was baked and then nDo'ed to add more details.

I'm gonna go crazy with textures this time. :)

Hope you like it!

Cheers!

Very nice start. With the concept looking so interesting, and this first bit of work, I can't wait to see more progress.

I can tell this one will be really intense- can't wait to see more. Are these images screen grabs with directx shader applied? I am noticing some anti-aliasing effects is why I ask.

Thanks a lot! Glad you like it so far. :)

@Alex Pointer: It's rendered in realtime Marmoset right now, but I will take it into UDK or Cryengine once I have more of the tiles and props done. :)

Yeah saw that concept on CG Hub. Love it. Looking forward to what you do.
Don't know how closely you want to follow the concept but I would say it has a more chunky and smoother feel that what you've currently got. I think what you got is great, but is more sharp and detailed, which doesn't give it the same feel as the concept.

Looks solid so far and the concept is cool. Can't wait to see it finished.

Looks fantastic so far! The only recommendation I have is to sharpen the inner corners I circled in the attachment. You could probably do that by adding a slight highlight in the diffuse. The reason I'm pointing this is out is because at a distance those corners will looks super rounded and in the concept they have a very distinct bevel to them.

Following this thread!

Started working on one of the monitors (The one around the middle at the top of the picture.)

Same thing here, just a diffuse with no spec or gloss work.

Next will prolly be some of the walls so that I can start getting the scene together!

Hope you like it!

Cheers!

Very cool start-I can see that you added a lot more than whats in the concept-did you draw anything out, that we check see?

That monitor looks pretty sweet! I like the addition of extra detail as these props hole up on their own.

I spotted the concept on CGHub last week and it's a great one to work from. Looking forward to updates.

Thanks guys!

@Alex Pointer: No, I haven't made any changes to the concept. I just felt like trying to add more detail and go from there. :) If it turns out too busy I'll reduce the detail amount. :)

Here's one of the wall tiles.
Very early texture, and very rough specular and gloss, but at least it's baked and ready for to be taken into the engine.

I can definitely see what direction you are taking it-looks good so far. I am sure you are going to break up the similarity within the grid with some solid additions to your texture. looking forward to seeing it!

This will be great. Really nice concept. Love the monitor already!

What are you hosting your images at? I can never get mine to come out so nice. They always get blurred, or look low quality, or resized.

Hey Disting great job so far! Do ya mind posting texture flats so we can check them out?

Wow nice stuff, push the red colors on the cable and the cylinder to really give it some extra spice!

Lovely modeling and texturing. Keep up man.
The more saturated colors here and there, really bring it to life, it's always the little things.

Not sure if you've seen this, but this should be useful:

@Darkleopard: Thank you! I'm hosting my images at Imgur (http://imgur.com)

@tehrobster2: Cheers! I thought I'd post them once the scene is done. Which will hopefully be in a week or two :P

@Spitfire: Thanks! Oh yeah, I'll definitely try that!

@Donavonyoung: Thank you! I'm glad you like it so far!

Here's a quick update.
Pulled the assets into UDK and set up a basic material to see how it all looked in engine.
Haven't tweaked the lighting or materials yet, but yeah. :)
