Unlimited uploads are coming soon, free of charge.
Sketchfab, a popular interactive, online model viewer, is planning to allow unlimited model uploads for free accounts in the near future. The current cap is set at 10 uploads, but once they reach 20,000 users, the cap will be lifted. They’ve also informed us that they will be releasing a material editor in the near future, allowing you to fine tune your materials, all in real time in the Sketchfab viewer. This is a better time than ever to check out their services and take your model presentation to the next level.

I have seen a few browser based model viewers a number of them don't work on my computer for some reason but I can see this. Way cool!
Already got some work up on Sketchfab and I think it's awesome. That material editor will be really handy when it's released too. Hurry up 20k!
man this thing is great
I agree dudealan I have used a bunch in the past and have always left me wanting more.
The only thing I can see that I would like them to add is an animation tab but that is really nit picking , I realy like this and I will upgrading to the pro very shortly.
Awesome!
Some wireframe tools would be nice, other than that looks really nice
Just realised they have wireframe tools on their actual site version of the viewer, so I amend my post and rephrase with some wireframe tools on this embed viewer would be nice!
Jack, if you turn wireframes on and save it when you view it, wireframe mode should be on by default for that model.
I was thinking this might be a cool addition to my portfolio, but I'm curious about security issues. The FAQ on their site says people could extract the model data if they really wanted to… thoughts?
@HitmonInfinity What you can extract is the equivalent of what you can "print-screen" from a photo or "screen cast" from a video, this concern is faced by any media online. We wrote a dedicated blog post about it: http://blog.sketchfab.com/why-webgl
WebGL is getting widely used by the biggest players of the web and the 3D space, as the best solution to display 3D models.
We hope to see your models soon!
nice,
a material editor would be awesome!
So it's time to implement this into the forum yeah?
I can't upload a model with its textures. It says to zip the obj, mtl, and jpeg into a zip folder, but when i try to upload it, it just says "Error – you cant' upload file more than 0MB. If you need more upgrade to pro account or contact the support"
The ability to handle alpha transparency textures would be nice too.
@TheQiwiman: can you send us your file at support@sketchfab.com so we can have a look? If you are using 3DsMax, Blender, Maya or C4D you can also use one of our exporters to upload directly from there. And we do support alpha transparency textures.
Sweet! Yeah I'll send it now, thanks for the help. So do you need to upgrade to pro to be able to use textures with alpha transparency? It says ".jpeg or .pngs".
what does make it better than http://p3d.in/ ??
Alright, turned out to be all user-error.. d'oh! This is pretty dang slick! Thanks for the help, can't wait to start uploading more models!
@Phoenix995 We support 25 native formats (vs 1 for p3d), You can publish directly from the main 3D softwares, we can take bigger files as we process server side, there is a public gallery to see others' works and get exposure for your work (a lot, as Sketchfab gets quite a bit of press), you can comment & like models, the material editor we are about to release is way more powerful, we support multiple objects in a scene… And last but not least, free unlimited uploads coming soon! sketchfab.com/overlord
Ok, that's the Sketchfab team speaking, but you can just see for yourself
@TheQiwiMan can't wait to see more!
Is there a way to place an embedded version into another website?
my bad there is an embed function, me so sorry
please please please – let us customize the background color!
@cman2k this is on our roadmap for sure! Meanwhile, you can use one of the default cubemaps and set exposure to zero for a black background.
Material editor is out, give it a try!
